Danish brand HAN KJØBENHAVN presented their Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection with a fashion film on January 17th, as part of the ongoing digital Milan Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by the feeling of sweet melancholia. In charge of photography and video direction was film director Casper Sejersen, with styling from Max Clark, and casting direction by Piotr Chamier. Beauty is work of hair stylist Cim Mahony, and makeup artist Stine Rasmussen.
The name of the collection is Sweet Melancholia. It’s inspired by my state of mind while creating this collection. It’s the mental ’sweet spot’, where the darkness takes over and you feel enlightened – Where the darkness feels progressive. It’s a creative potent place to be, a place created by the power of the uncontrollable – Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen.
“Han Kjøbenhavn’s COED show will present a collection of dramatic silhouettes and hard shapes mixed with refined craftsmanship techniques. The collection will feature tailoring with contouring metal details, lacing outfits and voluminous coats and dresses. Fabrics as fine Italian cotton, heavy leather and faux fur are expressed in a muted and earthy color palette. Han Kjøbenhavn’s new jewellery line will also be introduced. The mood of the creative content and design will represent the melancholic core of the collection.” – From Han Kjøbenhavn

MSGM menswear fall winter 2021 collection comes with a stark Alpine sentiment, resulting from Massimo Giorgetti’s time spent in Italian Alps during the countries travel restrictions. For many of us working in Fashion when heading to Milan one of the youngest breakthrough brands on our mind is MSGM. Nevertheless, it is time to realize Giorgetti has founded MSGM in 2009, and this is a decade old brand still feeling young and fresh. The founder himself is celebrating this milestone with a book coming in collaboration with the world renowned coffee table and photography book publisher Rizzoli. The book is entitled MSGM10.

With changing climate in the fashion industry in the past decade, setting up a successful brand with a global success in 2009 was by definition the question of luck. Today, with domination of fashion conglomerates this is easily said an impossible task. Thus brands such as MSGM are still considered young, especially in the industry climate such as Milan taken by tradition and elitism of the same. MSGM team with Massimo Giorgetti on the helm have for years managed to shape the Milanese trends, flirting between streetwear and Italian sartorial tendencies. The new collection while far less sartorial dips into another of Italian fashion industries traditional layers -.the alpine wear. While far from the tailoring we are so accustomed to in Milan, the alpine wear in Italy is dominated by some of the biggest and most successful players in Milan. We can start only with brands such as Moncler, brands working with billions of annual income. For a young brand such as MSGM thaking on this branch of the industry is a massive task, yet it allows further growth of the same.

MSGM Menswear Fall Winter 2021 collection is titled “Vertigine” meaning vertigo in Italian, the inspiration is taking on the Alpine heights and much more. While Milan Menswear Fashion Week managed to stay on track for another season, with a decently filled up schedule runways were left out. At least outside of the digital form. In September womenswear collection for MSGM came in a form of a beautifully told story coming from models wearing the Spring Summer 2021 pieces. This time MSGM leaves storytelling through a short film to the side, and brings us back to the sensation of runway at least in a digital form. Alongside a lookbook, MSGM has also released a runway video accompanying the models in high pace across a fashion runway covered with a mild to strong blizzard.
Chinese brand A Personal Note 73 (APN73) showcased their Fall Winter 2021.22 collection with a fashion film titled VIRTUAL-REALITY.TV, on January 17th, as part of the ongoing Digital Milan Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by Italian ’60 culture, and the works of film director Bernardo Bertolucci and painter Francis Bacon – and the similarities / contrasts between these two artists.
I am extremely pleased to be back with APN73 to Milan which represents the city I am most creatively close to and whose heritage menswear calendar best reflects my aesthetic vision – Andrea Pompilio
“Deeply embedded in the Italia 60’s culture, APN73 AW21 collection will feature oversize shapes a diverse and bold color palette combining bright yellow, orange and green and electric blue melted with hints of natural warm colours such as camel, chocolate, coffee and grey applied to a variety of winter fabrics spanning felted wool, technical wool and combined with the checked and stripe patterns signature of Pompilio.” – From APN73
Kean Etro takes ETRO Menswear Fall Winter 2021 collection from runway to the street with a new chapter for the brand. The latest from ETRO infused with a sentiment of streetwear sees perhaps the most youthful version of the brand to date. Nevertheless, ETRO keeps its own stape from instantly recognizable prints to the dedication to craftsmanship both in tailoring and accessories.

“The boundaries between daywear and evening wear blur. Function and aesthetics blend. After the long days of confinement, it is time to take the street with a fierce, bold attitude. The playful and the ironic meet the elegant and the sumptuous in a mix of high and low, casual and elegant,” shares ETRO team.
Kean and his design team have shaped the new collection with three words on their mind – Iconoclastic, unconventional, personal. But really, another much more powerful word encapsulates all three, and that is freedom. Just as the digital runway for ETRO heads outdoor, so are all of us hoping for a much more relaxed Fall Winter 2021 season.

When it comes to footwear, dedication to detail is as impeccable as always for ETRO the same goes for bags (of various sizes) featured throughout the collection. The prints synonymous to ETRO are back with an ultimate nod to streetwear, finding a cool and edgy new form to take.
ETRO team while on the pulse of trends to come is also mixing the collection with a see now buy now concept, something we have all been talking about for years. A slew of unisex vests from the collection is already available for purchase at the fashion brand’s official web page. In addition to the print the Pegasus logo gets a new spotlight, featured on jackets and oversized sweatshirts.

“Pajama-inspired piping details enrich shirts. Quilted jackets are crafted from ETRO’s vintage upholstery textiles. Retro sport-inspired logo bands run down the legs of nylon track pants. Clashing contrasts also define the footwear selection, with beautifully constructed brogues and loafers, punctuated by studs, juxtaposed to patchwork sneakers with neon laces. Mandalas and Paisley patterns stand out on highly functional backpacks, pouches and cross body bags with multiple pockets on the straps to carry everyday essentials,” ETRO team adds.
ETRO is also introducing recycled wool to the collection, with recycled wool maxi sweaters sent down the runway. Kean Etro focuses the new direction for the house in only thirty-four new looks, yet with an incredible attention to styling the collection feels elaborate and rich.

ETRO Menswear Fall Winter 2021 collection was presented with a runway show in Milan during the Milano Moda Uomo. However, unlike previous seasons, ETRO has opted for a no audience show obeying the strict covid19 restrictions in Milan and throughout Europe.
The collection by Menswear Creative Director Kean Etro features a new outlook on menswear from the brand, mixing in the prints and tailoring synonymous to the label’s aesthetic with a refreshing touch of streetwear.
ETRO is one of the few fashion houses who in 2020 with strict precautions managed to invite audience to their show even when facing criticism. However, the runway for the Fall Winter 2021 collection also came with a message of freedom from the fashion house.
Models have finished the runway finale stepping outside, hopefully something all of us will be able to do freely without any restrictions by the time Fall Winter 2021 comes up on our calendars.

This is my uniform for the outdoors. My love for all the contrasting elements of nature has been explored and reflected throughout this collection, combining the romance and beauty of nature with utility and practicality. I have been inspired by the rich heritage of traditional British dress codes and given them a fresh perspective: tempering camouflage prints to blend harmoniously within natural environments, combining them with structured tailoring and romantic florals, broderie anglaise details and references to the animal kingdom. This collection is about mirroring the natural environments within its dynamic prints, colours and textures.
– Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer
Celebrating kindred spirits, those who go beyond and explore the unknown, Riccardo juxtaposes camouflage over trench coats and mesh bodysuits, as well as floral prints applied to field jackets, cargo trousers, short-sleeve shirts and jogging pants. An eclectic mix which explores familiar pieces and house codes fused with a sense of modernity.
A call to camouflage across outerwear, hoodies, cargo trousers and kilts. The trench, parka and bomber jacket reworked in panelled florals. Badge appliqués on sports-influenced separates, as well as bib-front trousers in bold chequer print, and grain de poudre wool with smooth leather braces.
Signature check coats with detachable bellow-pocket gilets, over coordinated plaid kilts and tuxedo trousers. Silk satin zip panels transform a grain de poudre wool tailored coat and wool silk tailored jacket. Restyled English-fit suits feature embroidered details and cropped trousers. – from Burberry.

“The everyday spirit of out of the house meets the intimacy of home. Garments protect from the natural elements but also offer welcoming comfort in unsettling times,” shares Z Zegna team. Sartori and his designers have shaped the new collection with luxurious coziness and technical functionality in mind. At the same time the new Z Zegna collection is moving forward on the materials field as well. Thermo-sealed seaming and detailing provide protection from the wind and rain helping to maintain the feeling of internal comfort while braving the elements. Waterproof finished regenerated wools help remake coats into performance outerwear. At the forefront of sustainability, – 75% of the materials used in the collection are recycled – Z Zegna combines ethic and aesthetic in high-end recycled cashmere sweaters with donegal or mouline effects, and in nylon and wool performance down jackets,” notes the Z Zegna team.

ICEBERG Menswear Fall Winter 2021 collection by Creative Director James Long brings in the signature aesthetic of the label mixed with Brit Pop inspiration. Since taking over the helm of ICEBERG James Long has made the brand synonymous to streetwear. The 90s reference comes for Long and his design team this time from bands such as Blur and their lead singer Damon Alborn.
This direct homage to British bands 90s style will draw the eye first, with pieces punctuated by 3D quilting and contrasting tech-meets-knit textures and 3D puffer detailing. But where James Long really shines is in his more understated pieces. He has crafted some of the most appealing streetwear inspired trousers of the season. “James Long unleashes a Fall/Winter 2021 collection that channels the carefree eccentricity and angst of the 1990s Brit Pop, underground rap and acid rock scenes, as he continues to architect a fresh off-duty identity for both men and women,” shares ICEBERG team.
Club culture is still close to brand’s DNA, yet the collection offers the label’s take on knitwear, mixing in innovative techniques. Furthermore, the cartoon prints so close to the label’s history are this time back featuring Woodstock and Snoopy from the Peanuts cartoons. The cartoons are featured on oversized sweaters becoming a part of the fall winter knitwear.

Paris based brand RIER presented their Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection, that fuses brand’s signature refinement with practicality. The unisex collection pays tribute to heritage pieces from the essentialist wardrobes of the Italian Alpine region of South Tyrol.
The handsome Julian Felix teams up with fashion photographer Yann Faucher for the lookbook. In charge of casting direction was William Lhoest. Grooming is work of beauty artist Sebastien Le Corroller.
“Rier has chosen to strengthen the brand’s focus on material, cut, and volume – by pushing them to their maximum expression this year – and deciding to shed its “double R” logo on all but one piece of the collection. For 2021, each garment has been perfected and elevated to be a sign, complete in and of itself, of the Rier language. The result is a unisex collection that embodies the search for the unexpected: all-round, pure luxury design.
The collection is completed by a set of accessories: one boot, hand-made in Italy with a mountain rubber sole, a suede nylon patchwork sneaker, homewear felted wool slippers made in South Tyrol, thick wool socks and a felt bucket hat. Timeless, understated perfection is within reach.” – from Rier
Japanese menswear brand TAAKK presented their Fall Winter 2021.22 Grounded in Unreality Collection, that was inspired by the relationship and contradictions between reality and imagination. Designer Takuya Morikawa, a longtime enthusiast of the Surrealist movement, was also inspired by the quiet nature of Saul Leiter’s work.
The handsome Keijyu Furuya at Friday Model Agency stars in lookbook lensed by fashion photographer Ko Tsuchiya, and video directed by film maker Nagisa Kodama. Styling is work of Shohei Kashima, with hair styling and makeup by beauty artist Jun Nakamura.
“In a short film produced by Nagisa Kodama for TAAKK this season, dreams take on a more concrete meaning but still lie at the border of endless possibilities. Dreams that have yet to take shape, but nonetheless give a yearning and guidance to anyone aspiring towards a goal. It is capturing that essence, that surreal moment before reality emerges that Morikawa tries to grasp. In his own words, Morikawa too, is ‘always dreaming’. Dreams never stop, they only shift and refine their form.” – From Takuya Morikawa
Designer JW Anderson showcased his Fall Winter 2021.22 menswear collection, that was inspired by humor and honesty, with a lookbook as part of Digital Paris Fashion Week. Actor Allen Ren (also known as Ren Jialun) teams up with model Haowen Pan for VERSACE Lunar New Year 2021 campaign lensed by fashion photographer Leslie Zhang. The collection celebrates Chinese New Year with sportswear looks in bold colors and reimagines brand’s motifs to mark the year of the ox.
“An array of ready-to-wear pieces and accessories are printed with an exclusive reinterpretation of our Medusa Amplified motif. Featuring rolling Medusa discs in the shape of records, the print is inspired by the self-expression of young musicians through their style choices. Music is synonymous with celebration, making the print a fitting choice for the Lunar New Year. It comes in two distinct colorways, one boasting vibrant pastel shades of violet, baby blue, mint green and sunny yellow, and another in classic black and gold.” – From Versace
