Fashion house CANALI showcased their Fall Winter 2021.22 menswear collection, that pays homage to the unique and counter-trend character of the ‘70s, with the latest lookbook. The collection has three segments: Canali 1934, Exclusive, and Black Edition. The brand remains true to its rules of elegance, innovation and contemporary taste.
“A proliferation of ideas, encounters and experiences, the Seventies were years of frenzy and evolution in every field, from culture to art to fashion. Indeed, fashion—the daughter of the psychedelic and rebellious style of the Sixties—embodied the spirit of “experimentation” with an eye to the future, in search of self-affirmation and freedom in aesthetic choices. A freedom that, faithful to the nonconformist spirit of the period, mixed different styles and cultures, creating a set of distinctive features that are still a source of inspiration half a century later. Enveloping lines flanked the tricot and jacquard workmanship that populated the period. Soft, comfortable jumpers were distinguished by new textures and colour interpretations with geometric patterns. Leather biker jackets become reference for outerwear while velvet trousers made a name for themselves, infusing a refined and distinctive touch into men’s clothing. The common thread that binds the three segments is the concept of “cocooning”, which is linked to the idea of something that infuses comfort, warmth, and well-being. From jersey jackets to knitwear and outerwear, with soft and comfortable fabrics, Canali’s Fall Winter collection welcomes you in a warm embrace in the cold of winter.” – from Canali
Discover HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE Fall Winter 2021.22 Never Change, Ever Change Collection, presented with a fashion film directed by film maker Kyotaro Hayashi (Drawing and Manual), on Thursday, January 21st, during the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. The collection explores and reimagines classic looks in a modern way, mixing original ideas with new technology. The collection brings looks that reflect ever-changing lifestyles. Choreography by Ryo Noguchi and Makiko Izu.
“The video started with a scene of pleating a garment, the process from which the brand’s creations originate, followed by a series of sartorial operations carried out by skilled engineers and crafts people working at the atelier. Models in monochrome outfits walked around and marched through the space, as the music made from sampling the machinery marked the pace of their moves, quick and slow. The second half of the video opened again with the pleating machine. As the uplifting tunes progressed, the engineer peeled off the paper to reveal items of clothing one after another. Now models in colorful outfits stood on a rotating platform, and in still postures, presented an array of looks from the collection, followed by scenes of them walking, playing, and dancing. Then, they gathered around the platform and lined up in a circle, revealing a gradation of colors of the collection, until they each walked towards the camera and off the screen.” – from HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE
Luxury house Louis Vuitton presented their Fall Winter 2021.22 Menswear Collection with a fashion film starring American rappers Mos Def and Saul Williams directed by film maker Wu Tsang.

Tod’s just as most of Italian fashion houses who took part in the latest Milan Fashion Week schedule has opted for a digital presentation of their Fall Winter 2021 collection. The beautifully crafted collection was captured for the lookbook and short film in Villa Ronchi by architect Giuseppe De Finetti. The stunning house is located in Vigevano, and was constructed in 1936.
Zurzolo plays a young actor who is self isolating for seven days, the film appropriately holds the title #sevenT. On this occasion T stands for Tod’s but also for time, something we have all experienced passing much more differently in the past year. T is also taking shape of an instantly recognizable new emblem from Tod’s appearing on shoes, belts, jackets and handbags.
Discover YOHJI YAMAMOTO POUR HOMME Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection presented with a fashion film directed by Japanese photographer TAKAY, on Thursday, January 21st, as part of Paris Fashion Week. Designer expresses his feelings and anger about the world problems and injustices in his own poetic way. The collection features 26 looks, and shows the extreme difference between summery clothes and warm clothes. The collection explores many current themes such as human rights, social movements, sanitary emergencies, and animal protection.
“About the masks, Yohji-san wants to reflect that in our society people are wearing masks and some don’t. He wanted to focus on how people are wearing the masks in the streets (some people do, some don’t, some wear them in a very personal way). It’s not a judgment, it’s an obeservation of the streets.” – From Yohji Yamamoto
Designer RICK OWENS unveiled his Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection with a video presentation, on January 21st, as part of the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. The collection is titled Gethsemane – after the garden where Jesus prayed in the night before the crucifixion. Designer explores the tense feelings before a final reckoning. The collection was inspired by the situation and the world we are living in now, full of suspense, waiting for a resolution – be it catastrophic or rational.
“Jkts and coats in leather and shearling that seal the body with integrated gloves and zip up over the face speak of protection and withdrawal. Horror. Skin tight leather bodysuits underpin most looks, some with the top pulled down to hang off the hips. Sharp, exaggerated shoulders on tailored coats and cropped bombers mock male conservatism careening off the rails.
Tighty-whities with pentagram flys add more unhinged male energy when worn with thigh high cowhide fur boots – with a platform heel or a ballast sole – under coats made from recycled plastic waste with the sleeves ripped off. Hairy legs, organic pentagram underwear, and jumbo recycled coats with pandemic masks – a rough sketch of our barbaric contradictory times. Dragging oversized jeans are in 16oz black warp/black weft/black selvedge denim custom woven for us by Yamaashi Orimono (est. 1945) On vintage sakamoto shuttle looms. This is from an ongoing drkshdw capsule made in Japan.” – from Rick Owens
Discover CHILDREN OF THE DISCORDANCE Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection, presented with a fashion film featuring hip-hop artists Hideyoshi and Ralph directed by film maker Keita Suzuki, on January 16th, as part of recently the finished Digital Milan Fashion Week. The collection titled Dawn sends a message of hope – that there will always be a morning after the night.
Hip hop music has inspired me throughout my life and is an important reference behind Children of the discordance. For this reason I wanted the movie to be focussed on Japanese hip-hop artists and to be shot in the city of Tokyo, which becomes again the show runway – Shikama Hideaki, brand’s creative director
“AW21 collection will convey a military and sportswear inspiration also in the textile design and in the graphics designs features. Fabrics include vintage 80’s & 90’s cotton, 80’s denim, hand dyeing nylon and double-faced wool fabrics developed in a winter color palette combining black and white with khaki green, maroon and teal.” – from Children Of The Discordance
Dior Men Winter 2021 collection hit the (no audience) runway today in Paris during the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. The 45-look collection by Kim Jones features a special collaboration with renowned contemporary artist Peter Doig. The artist collaborated with Jones and Dior team not only on the collection garments but also on the set design for the spectacular runway – you can see more of Dior Men’s Winter 2021 runway show scenography in an exclusive preview on our DSCENE magazine.
For the Winter 2021 collection Kim Jones mixes in the traditional menswear cuts with his flare for streetwear cats alongside the collaboration with Doig. The collection features also a striking mix of Dior’s ready-to-wear with maison’s traditional haute couture sentiment.
“Couture is itself a ceremony: Christian Dior himself described the ceremonial entry of his models for each new look. For Winter 2021-2022, uniforms with embroidery and embellishment, notably inspired by the académie des beaux-arts, offer a masculine interpretation of couture. Decorations and motifs from the Dior archives are reinvented. Covered buttons are those of the iconic bar jacket; the gilded embroidery of rosella, an haute couture evening gown designed by Marc Bohan in the sixties,” shares Dior team.

Class of 2021 is the title of ISABEL MARANT menswear fall winter 2021 collection presented with a short film and lookbook as part of Paris Fashion Week. Marant joins the brands opting out of a runway show presentation by presenting her latest menswear collection in a digital form. Cast helping Marant bring her high school inspired collection are top model Alpha Dia, runway sensation Leon Dame, breakthrough star Lucas El Bali and faces to watch Freek Iven and Fernando Lindez.
Collection mixes the sentiment of high school with Isabel Marant’s relaxed daywear attitude, bringing us back to the 90s grunge, denim and checkered shirts. Oversize is the game of the season and Marant and her design team utilize the best of it. The collection numbering almost forty looks is targeting Marant’s youthful audience, but also generation Z’s take on the 90s high school romcom aesthetic.
To capture the collection Marant enlisted fashion photographer Bruno Staub, who’s menswear work results by default in timeless imagery. The collection is also presented with an upbeat short film captured by videographer Laure Atanasyan.
“The almost grunge layering of colors and prints is tempered by the presence of timeless materials with reassuring neutral tones. Shearling comes in the form of a hooded jacket or a college initial teddy. This jogging spirit, reinforced by the omnipresence of sneakers on his feet, tells of a desire for dynamism. He dreams of elsewhere and of escape. This is where he finds her,” shares Isabel Marant team within the collection notes.
Jil Sander Menswear fall winter 2021 collection brings the core aesthetic of the brand focusing the same on striking outerwear pieces for the forthcoming winter. Creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier have by now masterfully merged their own design lines with the new growth of Jil Sander. The latest menswear collection finds them exploring the contemporary menswear and the times we are in.
“Intimate, sharp, layered, utilitarian. A seminal wardrobe of suits, coats and knitwear in exaggerated proportions and a unique colour palette. Designed to clearly separate the figure from its background. The collection is an interplay of lean and soft garments that perfectly mirrors the shifts between our need for privacy and touch, our desire to glow and connect, our lives in the city. Every look is unique. We are one, whether we consider it to be singular or plural,” shares Jil Sander team in their Fall Winter 2021 menswear notes.
The collection was presented with thirty-seven looks bringing the best of Jil Sander minimalism with a trend-forward juxtaposition. Fall Winter 2021 was presented by a lookbook and a dynamic short film.
“Soft, experimental, hand-made, and extremely refined, knitwear is a key element of the collection. Sharp graphic colouring contrasts rich knit structures. Contrast – tone intarsia gives depth to warm cashmere sweaters. Connections are delicate, detailed, textured, tactile. Bags in flat, sharp belted forms lend geometry and shine, and are integrated as part of the silhouette. Plump soft nappa forms add a domestic pillowy comfort. Squared tote bags in natural leathers offer functional yet luxurious grounding. The hues and nuances of the colour palette are rich, and shift from the natural to the utilitarian : off-white, butter, light mint green, sand, beige, and cocoa contrast, and complement lilac, lipstick, mauve, iron, lemon, navy, and black, ” more about the collection from Jil Sander

Paris is still home of the collection presentations for South Korean fashion house WOOYOUNGMI yet this time with a digital lookbook and no-audience runway. Designer Youngmi Woo and her team have taken WOOYOUNGMI this time to the great outdoors, to present the collection exploring the winter season in a myriad of outerwear pieces.
“A defiant reaction of the human psyche, times of limitation can spur our imagination and take us to places we’ve never been before. For the Autumn-Winter 2021 co-ed collection, Wooyoungmi stages an abstract journey beyond the borders of our current reality. Continuing Wooyoungmi’s conversation with the new generations of Seoul, Wooyoungmi consistently draws on the energy instinctive to the current style spirit of South Korea,” shares the fashion house in their Fall Winter 2021 collection notes.
Designer Luke Meier unveiled OAMC Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection, that pays homage to American painter and graphic artist Robert Rauschenberg. The collection is inspired by Rauschenberg’s work, and it explores the mixing of materials, and ideas with feelings. Models Chester Mckee, Jonathan Tidik, and Keiron Caynes star in the lookbook lensed by fashion photographer Ben Beagent.
“In Rauschenberg’s vocabulary, ‘combines’. The idea of mixing materials, which Rauschenberg gained through his experience in his first year at the legendary Black Mountain College, under the guidance of Josef Albers. This idea is often at the root of design: finding the correct balance and vibration between two different materials, colors, or techniques, and was the initial starting point for the Fall/Winter 2021 collection. Mixed materials take the form of organza panels applied to sharp Japanese wool or cotton poplin overshirts, chunky knit collars attached to wool coats, and heavy metal hardware cutting through tailoring, shirting, footwear, and accessories.
The palette reflects both a sophistication as well as a utilitarian vibrance. Melange Harris Tweed wools in warm brown and petrol are mixed with bright yellow, fuchsia, mint green, and pale blue. Black and white jacquard heavy diagonal wool coating is contrast by deep green, navy, and misty grey. Slick black leather is met by bright blue and ceramic white. Organza in bright green, yellow, blue, and red as well as natural white provides the bases for exquisite cyanotype-derived print motifs in black, purple, and aqua.” – from OAMC

ERNEST W. BAKER presented their Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection, with a fashion film starring models Diacaria, Oscar J, Marius Courcoul and Matthew directed by Vladimir Kaminetsky, as part of the recently finished Paris Fashion Week. In charge of cinematography was Juri Fantigrossi, with art direction from Inês Amorim and Reid Baker, and styling by Mauricio Nardi. Grooming is work of beauty artist Michael Delmas.
“A dream is a road to the unconscious. But what if your waking life feels just as surreal? An awakening, with sensations clinging to the senses. Images coming back in flashes. Memories slipping out of grasp the more you focus on them. A feeling of uncertainty as dreams blend into reality. Anxiety and isolation beating at the edge of our consciousness.
For the past few months, we have felt in the grips of an uncontrollable reality. As business owners, uncertainty, anxiety and stress have been a constant in our lives. As creatives, this has forced us to examine what mattered and what we wanted to say, within this ever-shifting framework.
If we have to roll with the punches right now, we wanted to build the aesthetic around it. Instead of clinging to the foundation of the brand, we looked at the spaces where reality crept in. That meant breaking away from the perfectionism of the traditional masculine wardrobe that has been our signature, by embracing the casual elements that are inscribed in our collective memory as off-duty gear – the print t-shirt, tartan trousers, but also a lush robe that doubles as a coat. The handmade mixed in with the tailored. Layers that create a silhouette as seamless as your day. Throughout, we used roses, thorny beauties who marry harshness and softness, as a graphic motif. For botanical buffs, their names too are symbols of Ernest W. Baker: Americana, Belle Blonde, Sterling Silver.” – from ERNEST W. BAKER

Discover MISSONI MAN Fall Winter 2021.22 Collection, that was inspired by the city life, and urban landscapes, presented with brand’s latest lookbook. Stars of the session are models Robert Grundler and Oliver Bartha. In charge of photography was Marili Andre.
“The Missoni Man A/W21 Collection draws on the metropolis, and one’s ineffable journey through its labyrinth as both actor and observer. Moving across the urban landscape, actors transform their roles, sceneries reconstruct, a staccato rhythm ebbs and flows, and shifting realities co-exist only to then divide and reinvent themselves.
Angela Missoni features an adaptable wardrobe that accompanies the Missoni Man as he moves from one act to another in a series of plays; the enduring protagonist who creates his own singular, ever-evolving, narrative and style.
The city becomes his stage. The hushed vibrancy of the streets at night, the penetrating hues of light rising behind glass and steel mountains, the kinetic murmurs of stimulating pulses; all culminating in a series of painted backdrops over which his story unfurls. Dynamic. Contemporary. Self possessing. Missoni.” From Missoni

RELATED: Exclusive Interview With Top Model David Trulik
“The collection consists of unique pieces that are built through a fusion of classic tailoring and sportswear. Through the method of “unification of opposites” hybrid pieces are created that bring two seemingly opposite worlds together. This fusion of classic tailoring with sportswear and signature leather, nylon and knitwear inserts results in an elegant yet strong silhouette. A big emphasis is laid in creative and unique handknitted knitwear, one of the key categories of the LES HOMMES world,” shares LES HOMMES team in their collection notes.
Talking about luxury in our interview with Tom and Bart a few years ago the designer team shared: “Luxury is beauty, serenity and frivolity. Luxury is what you long for and it makes even more sense today when almost everything is accessible with the click of a keyboard.“
