FALL WINTER 2021 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS

The reference to the ’80s is evident, as is the quest for macro graphic designs, with dashes of bright color and unexpected accessories, in a continuous dialogue of mirroring between men and women. New Marni collection was presented today during Milan Fashion Week‘s entirely digital schedule. While the whole list of fashion brands has opted out of audience at their runway shows, many brands have also scrapped a runway show concept. However Marni team has since the start of the pandemic entirely scrapped the idea of a runway show. Instead a series of fashion films featuring a striking cast going from breakfast to dinner presents label’s latest collection.

In charge of the styling for the striking Fall Winter 2021 collection was the famed fashion stylist Camilla Nickerson, while the visuals were art directed by Babak Radboy all under creative direction of Francesco Riso. Leading the cast are stars Mykki Blanco, Zsela and Steff Stover joined by Paloma Elsesser and Lulu Prost among other.

This Marni collection took shape as a romantic ode to dressmaking at its most tactile and intimate. A love letter, actually: blatant, at times even proudly banal, so intense and overwhelming is our collective urge to feel, touch and feel some more. We kept asking ourselves: what is romantic and what is romanticism nowadays? Back in the day, Romanticism, as a movement, was born as a reaction against the rational, as an opposition to social norms. It legitimized the individual imagination as a critical authority. Today, Romanticism feels more powerful than any form of protest: a way to delve into reality with another gaze and another touch, finding another meaning to the everyday,” shares Francesco Riso in his personal letter to the press and collection viewers alike.

When it comes to menswear design for Marni’s fall winter 2021 collection the gender lines while entirely blurred the garments do celebrate the sartorial form and craftsmanship. Discover all the looks from Marni menswear Fall Winter 2021 collection in our gallery.

Salvatore Ferragamo Menswear Fall Winter 2021 Runway

Fall Winter 2021 menswear collection from Salvatore Ferragamo and Creative Director Paul Andrew comes with a striking sci-fi inspiration.

“In fashion, the past exerts a gravity – we are always drawn to it. For this season I wanted to invert that physics. The objective was to engineer a collection that sees the present through a prism of the future – unleashing a multitude of fresh perspectives. Pre-millennial sci-fi classics Gattaca, Until The End Of The World, and The Matrix were all cinematic influences – past imaginings of the future that have shaped today. For this ‘Future Positive’ collection I imagined the standard contours of today’s uniforms as fossilised remnants of a long-forgotten past, freed of all associations of class, colour or creed. This collection proposes new uniforms for a utopian future in which diversity and positivity combine to transform our world for the better. As Salvatore Ferragamo once said of his own work, this collection is dedicated ‘to all those who must walk’ – at a time when we must be united in our determination to reimagine, rebuild, progress.“, shared Paul Andrew with the press.

Latest Salvatore Ferragamo Menswear collection was presented on a striking runway as part of Milan Fashion Week’s digital schedule. The runway featuring both men’s and women’s looks for the Fall 2021 season was a no-audience event.

FALL WINTER 2021 COLLECTIONS

For the coming season Salvatore Ferragamo is also working on a more detailed sustainability plan. “Footwear soles include wood from certified responsibly managed forestry, recycled pre-consumer TPU rubber and polyurethane and metal-free leather tanned with plant-based materials and through a certified lower environmental impact production process. Selected accessories are made from upcycled pre-consumer offcuts, addressing material waste and avoiding virgin material production, and others are made from certified recycled pre and post-consumer wool and cashmere. Part of leather have been made with a chrome-free or metal-free tanning process. Sewing threads for part of footwear and leather goods are made from 100% post-consumer certified recycled PET,” noted Salvatore Ferragamo team.

After a year of often sitting on zoom calls without being fully dressed or while wearing the same dirty jeans and tee shirt, I am ready to put on a suit again and actually leave my house. I have always worn suits. I feel comfortable in them. I love that I don’t have to think when I get dressed, that the jacket matches the pant. Suits can be an armor, but they can also make daily activities seem like an event. I think that it is time to get dressed again. Not in a flamboyant over the top way, but in a slightly more casual yet luxurious way.

Velvet has long been one of my favorite fabrics. Velvet for day. Velvet for evening. I often wear a velvet jacket with jeans and boots, and I almost always wear a velvet jacket at night if I am going out. This season velvet sportswear is shown in varying silhouettes and volumes; small and cropped in casual zip front quilted jackets or oversized in cocoon-like down filled coats. Bold floral prints on velvet and pinwheel cord are optimistic, light, and full of promise for a return to the ability to go back out into the world. – Tom Ford

MODEL CITIZEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TOM KEMP

Editor MAJA VUCKOVIC sits down with TOM KEMP to talk about his modelling career, the perfect workout, importance of nutrition and his brand Farm Fitness. Discover more after the jump.

Let’s talk about your beginnings in modelling. How were you discovered? Did you
always want to be a model?

I have never really considered myself as a model, I’ve just always had a passion for training and making my physical appearance a top priority. Documenting my training on Instagram and having a niche gym facility, in such an authentic setting has opened up opportunities to work with some great photographers. As such, modelling for me has grown very organically.

Fitness certainly plays an important role in the life of a male model. How important is fitness to you, and what does your usual fitness routine consist of?

Staying in shape and training most days is a huge part of my life and has so many positive attributes, not only physically but mentally, boosting morale, motivation and self-discipline.

My typical fitness routine consists of six training days per week these usually include a mix of Strength training, bodybuilding, strongman and cardio. I usually take one rest/recovery day.

MODEL CITIZEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TOM KEMP

How important is nutrition when it comes to getting the perfect shape? And what are the main things to look out for?

Food fuels and supplies energy for our bodies. Therefore, we need to replace the nutrients that we lose with a new supply every day.

Staying in shape and training most days is a huge part of my life and has so many positive attributes, not only physically but mentally, boosting morale, motivation and self-discipline.

You need to be concentrating on supplying your body with healthy fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals in order to maintain good health. If you’re training hard but not taking your nutrition into consideration, you are limiting your potential.

Do you indulge in a cheat day?

I don’t feel the need to have a ‘cheat day’, my day to day meals are sufficient in satisfying my likes. I think if you enjoy the food you’re eating and eat in moderation there is never the urge to ‘binge’. A good rule of thumb is 80% good quality food.

MODEL CITIZEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TOM KEMP

So, what’s your tip for pushing yourself in a workout?

Generally, I don’t struggle with motivation, I see training as the best part of my day and it is something that I look forward to. In terms of trying to step things up a notch, or getting PB’s I visualize the workout, how it will feel and how good I will feel after. I also remember the long term goal, what I want to achieve and be, this will often push me forward.

A good workout playlist will help to stimulate my mood and set the scene.

What’s the best post-workout meal?

Getting in the right nutrients after exercise can help you rebuild your muscle proteins and glycogen stores. It also helps stimulate growth of new muscle, therefore, my post workout meal will always consist of leaner protein such as chicken or white fish. This will also be my highest carbohydrate based meal post workout,

MODEL CITIZEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TOM KEMP

Generally, I don’t struggle with motivation, I see training as the best part of my day and it is something that I look forward to.

Do you believe in dietary supplements?

Supplements are there to ‘supplement’ your diet, provide nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fiber etc. However, these should be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet, if this is not the case then it can often be counterproductive.

Personally, I use supplements to aid my recovery and maximize performance.

What’s the ideal diet?

I wouldn’t say there is one overarching ideal diet. It’s just important to have a good balance of protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and micronutrients and taking care in the quality and source of these products.

MODEL CITIZEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TOM KEMP

Do you have any beauty routine you stick to daily?

This has been something that I’ve appreciated more as I have got older. Working on the farm and outside has meant I am often open to the elements, so my go to daily products/ routine would be a daily moisturizing and eye cream.

In a world which is becoming increasingly urbanised, my passion is to encourage people to take their training outdoors, reaping the benefits of fresh air and natural light whilst helping them reach their goals.

You are the founder of Farm Fitness, could you tell us more about the concept behind it?

I founded Farm Fitness aged 23, combining my experience in competitive functional fitness with my family’s farming background. After 4 years. Farm Fitness is now considered one of the world’s best training venues.

There’s a huge sense of team comradery at Farm Fitness which I am keen to foster into the ever expanding Farm Fit community.

In a world which is becoming increasingly urbanised, my passion is to encourage people to take their training outdoors, reaping the benefits of fresh air and natural light whilst helping them reach their goals.

MODEL CITIZEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TOM KEMP

What are your future plans for Farm Fitness?

We are continually looking at ways to expand the brand, both online and in our current location. We have some exciting pop-up events scheduled for 2021, where we will be showcasing the full farm fitness experience on the road.

Long term, it’s our aim to potentially franchise the brand and have multiple sites across the UK.

What do you like to do when you have time off?

I think it’s important to take time away from the gym and social media, for both recovery and mindset purposes. I’m fortunate to live in a rural location, and get to utilize the countryside, taking my dogs out and helping my dad on the family’s farm. Having the spare time in lockdown has really given me the chance to enjoy some DIY projects both in the house and the garden.

Discover MONCLER 1 JW ANDERSON Spring Summer 2021 A Nomadic Voyage Collection, that explores a dreamy and transient life at sea. Fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan captured the images featuring styling from Benjamin Bruno. Beauty is work of hair stylist Gary Gill, and makeup artist Anne-Sophie Costa.

Jonathan Anderson walks the fine line between the straightforward and the abstract. His work stems from a genuine appreciation of craft, the natural world and the act of making, twisted upside down in a vision that is playfully unpredictable. In this collection, his second for Moncler Genius, Anderson explores both his own British roots and the roots of the JW Anderson brand, giving a Moncler spin to JW Anderson archive pieces all the while delivering an interpretation of nomadic characters rooted in an idea of adventure. The seascape is the vast scenario: fishermen sailing in deep waters, women waiting on terrafirma engaging in some highly crafty act of quiltmaking, and then the sunsets reflected on the waters. As ever for JW Anderson, pieces are meant to be worn fluidly across genders.” – from MONCLER

Discover VALENTINO Fall Winter 2021.22 Act Collection, that pays homage to culture, presented at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, on Monday, March 1st, during the recently finished Milan Fashion Week. The collection finds a harmony between punk and romanticism.

Reopening a theater, even though only for the span of a show, is a bold, almost punk gesture: an invitation to aggregation and sharing when these activities are denied. Inside Piccolo Teatro di Milano, a place that for Milan is symbolic of a conscious and progressive way of making culture, the identity of Valentino today materializes with a clear and incisive sign: both sensual and romantic, nourished by memories but not nostalgic. An identity that reflects in a new generation.” – from Valentino

3 Reasons Traditional Shaving Could Help Your Skin

3 Reasons Traditional Shaving Could Help Your Skin

Back in the day, men took pride in the art of shaving. If they’re not doing it in their home, they’re most certainly getting it done from their trusted barbershop. You may wonder why your grandpa goes to all the trouble just for a shave, but in reality, shaving can be a very relaxing experience if you do it right.

That’s not to say that dry shaving or mainstream shaving (using a good-in-can and cartridge razor) is terrible. It just so happens that traditional shaving or wet shaving offers an elevated shaving experience, and it can do wonders for your skin health.

What Happens When You Shave?

To fully understand how one’s shaving routine is better than the other, you need to learn the whole dynamics of a shaving experience first.

Shaving is the act of cutting facial hair with the use of a razor. When you shave, the metal blade that passes your skin not only cuts through the hair but also scrapes off the outer layer of your skin. To make each pass a smoother glide, you lather up with shaving cream to prevent any cuts.

One of the reasons why you experience skin irritation are the synthetic materials and chemicals used in canned shaving creams. These chemicals can be tough on your skin, causing dryness, itchiness, or even rash.

Another cause of skin irritation is the razor you’re using. It’s easy to believe the promise of the advertisements that, “the more blade a razor cartridge has, the better the shaving experience becomes”. You’ll learn later on that this is just a marketing ploy for you to buy their newest product.

Tools Used for Traditional Wet Shaving

Before diving more in-depth, here are some of the tools you need to get started:

  • Glycerin shaving soap or cream
  • Shaving bowl
  • Shaving brush
  • A straight edge or double edge (DE) safety razor
  • Aftershave
  • Hot and cold water

The list may look overwhelming and time-consuming at first, but once you experience the relaxing effect of this routine, you’re going to want to do it every single day. If you’re on the market for shaving paraphernalia, you can find most of these tools at the Shaving Time UK store for an affordable price.

3 Reasons Traditional Shaving Could Help Your Skin

The Benefits

If all of these are starting to make sense and if you’re tired of the nicks, bumps, and burns you get each time you shave, here are three reasons why wet shaving can help you protect your skin against irritation:

  1. Provides for A Closer and Gentler Shave

As mentioned earlier, each time you repeatedly pass a blade through your facial hair, it removes a layer of your skin, leaving the inner layers of your skin exposed and more sensitive to irritants. If you’re using a five-blade cartridge when you shave, that means each swipe is equivalent to five passes on your skin. Repeated motions using this kind of razor cartridges are the culprits as to why your skin gets irritated after shaving.

Unlike what huge razor companies say, you only need a single-blade razor to get the job done. Using a straight edge or a DE safety razor is more than enough to give you a close shave.

Wet shaving is also gentler on your skin since you’ll be using glycerin-based shaving cream. The common problem with using canned shaving cream, it often leaves your skin dry. Glycerin is excellent at keeping your skin moisturized as you shave.

  1. Prevents Razor Burns, Bumps, And Irritation

Men have opted to grow their beards instead of shaving them frequently because of the annoying skin irritation that usually comes with mainstream shaving.

The problem with mainstream shaving is that each time you lather up your beard, the chemicals in a canned shaving cream weakens the hair to make it easier to cut. Using a multi-blade razor, it stretches the hair from the roots before it’ll cut. When this happens, the hair that was left springs back to the follicle, thus creating the pervasive problem of ingrown hair.

With traditional shaving, the process of applying a mixture of hot water and shaving soap prepares your facial hair by removing the outer layer causing the hair to lift from its roots. In this process, you avoid the springing back motion of the facial hair when you shave. This is why traditional shaving can help you prevent skin irritation that is usually inevitable with mainstream shaving.

  1. Relaxes and Exfoliates Your Skin

At first, you may feel a little too overwhelmed with traditional wet shaving. And the fact that you’re going to be using a straight edge or safety razor can be quite terrifying. But with practice, you’ll be able to enjoy the whole experience.

Wet shaving can give your skin a relaxing and exfoliating experience. It’s known for a fact that hot water can help the muscles relax. Since you’ll be using hot water in lathering your shaving soap, it’ll be going to give you a Zen feeling which you rarely experience when you’re rushing to shave.

Combined with the cleansing effect of your shaving cream, you can use a brush to lather up your beard and exfoliates facial skin dirt in a gentle and calming motion.

3 Reasons Traditional Shaving Could Help Your Skin

Takeaway

As shaving techniques changed over the years, modern gentlemen like you may have forgotten the art of shaving. Those changes can also come with discomforting side-effects, like razor burns and facial hair ingrown. Considering shaving in the traditional way takes your shaving sessions to the next level which helps you care for your skin.
